Alcohol not only slows down your brain, but it also slows down one's perception of time. To me, 10 minutes felt more like 30 minutes. My friend Steve is a papa's girl, and she had to go home once her dad came to pick her up. I told her that she sucks for having to go home early, but her estimated "I'll be going in about 10 minutes" seemed to me like it was a lot longer than what she stated. I remember watching her watch the games, take photos around the party, fix the laptop, accompany me to the restroom, and many more. All these in 10 minutes? My disappointment didn't last long thanks to my altered perception of reality.
Although we all left the party before Cinderella's curfew, it seemed like we've stayed there long enough to feel like it's past 12 midnight. Waiting for the driver to pick me up was another experience. Feeling sick already, I called him up to ask where he was at that moment. He told me he was in Nagtahan already. The time it took for him to reach me from there was 30 minutes in the real world, 90 minutes in my world. I've already discussed so much already with my friend before the driver arrived.
The trip home was even longer. Like I mentioned in one of my previous blogs, I just sat in the back seat like a cargo trying to resist movement. I just wanted to get to my bed as soon as possible, but no...I had to feel all the bumps, stops and go's on the way, and I had no one to talk to about what I felt at that time.
There's a good and a bad side to this. The good part is that one's experience is amplified by a few drinks. Time is almost frozen, slowly melting that you begin to feel you have control over it. The bad side is you can't make it go any faster. You are stuck in the moment, and you have to feel it and even be it, so that you can finally move on. It's like the extension of your nervous system- the environment your body. That moment is not always a good one, especially if you feel like barfing. But the bad side is nothing compared to the good side. Being one with the moment lets you taste the pureness of any experience there is.
